Letter to the Press Herald: There are better options than the Gorham “Connector”

Scarborough resident and M4ST volunteer Tilman Reitzle criticized the MTA’s proposed Gorham “Connector” in the Portland Press Herald yesterday. He makes the common sense arguments for considering alternative solutions to cut down on the need to drive through the area, by investing in making biking, walking, and public transportation safe and accessible.

If you want to write a letter to the editor or op-ed with your tape on the Gorham “Connector” and need some help or encouragement, contact us!

The Greater Portland Council of Governments has made useful suggestions for addressing these very issues. Town councils [of Scarborough, Westbrook and Gorham] have the right to oppose the state’s Gorham Connector proposal if the suggestions from the GPCOG are ignored.

There is much at stake, not just for the gorgeous meadows of Smiling Hill Farm. Let’s embrace sustainable, reversible transportation solutions that will benefit everyone in the long run. It can be done.
